Spring Break

Kent's parents came for spring break a couple weeks ago and so I am finally posting about it. We had so much fun and it was so good to see them and tour them around Michigan. And of course they loved Case and he loved them too.

So of course we had to take a trip to MSU campus.
Kent took us on a tour of the law school.

This is one of his classrooms. He tried to take us into the court room on campus but it was locked. Too bad!

Of course, most of the trip was ALL about cars. So here we are at the Oldsmobile museum in Lansing.

Then we went to the Henry Ford museum near Detroit. Which is not only Ford cars, it had tons of stuff in there about the entire country.

This car was my favorite (it reminds me of Cruella DeVille). Apparently it was worth $45,000 when it was built in the 1920's !! And only a handful were made. Literally like 10, tops. So now this car is worth well over $200 million. So crazy.

This is the actual bus that Rosa Parks was on the day she was arrested. We are sitting in the exact same seat she sat in.
This is called the Dymaxion house. It was home created to use up extra airplane parts and was supposed to be super cost efficient. Kind of meant to take the place of mobile homes. Anywho, it is about 1,000 sqft of circle. So funny, but cool.



That glass door is into the bathroom. Basically it looked just like an airplane bathroom except with a tub in the back.
We also got to take a tour of a GM assembly plant where they make the GMC Acadia (the car I want), Buick Enclave, and the Chevy Traverse. It was so cool to see a car being made from scratch. Starting with a piece of sheet metal and ending in something we actually would feel comfortable and safe enough to drive.
Unfortunately they wouldn't let us take pictures inside, but you know it was the highlight of the trip for those silly boys.

Then we went to a Japanese restaurant. Those are always so fun. And Case loved it.


On the last day we took a tour of GM towers in Detroit.
We took a glass elevator to the top of the building. on the left side of the river is Detroit, on the right side is Windsor, Canada.

They had a show room in the GM towers. So of course we spent plenty of time there, and you could get into most of the cars.

We only stayed in Canada for about an hour, just long enough to say we went, but it was a nasty town and traffic/pedestrians were crazy so we wanted out! But here we are coming back...
