Kent and his dad have had a body shop that they work in to rebuild well... everything but mostly cars. They love it. They have had the shop now for over twenty years and Kent has been working in it with his dad since he was about 10 or so. It is their hobby, their passion, and a way to earn extra money. They love doing it together. Well this morning about 5 oclock Kents sister came banging on our door screaming "the shop is on fire. the shop is on fire!" Kents family lives in town and the shop is about 5 miles away on some other property they own. We instantly jumped up and got dressed. we walked out the door and could see the flames and smoke. When we got there the fire dept. was already there. It took about two hours to put the fire out. There was tons of explosive things in the shop, paint cans, propane tanks, oxygen tanks, and the list goes on. So once one thing caught fire it was inevitable that the entire place would be burned. Needless to say everything inside the shop is gone, thousands of dollars in tool and equipment that they had accumulated throughout over 20 years and of course lots of sentimental memories and objects. For example if you look in the pictures you will see a frame of a tractor sitting in the building. They have been working on that tractor for over 7 years because of the extent of work to do on it and the trouble of getting the right parts. They finally finished it last week but hadn't moved it out of the shop yet. But thank goodness none of the cars we were working on were burnt. And the car Kent and I have been rushing to finish just got done last night and we pulled it out of the shop. It would have been gone. It is just crazy and so surreal how these things happen. Kent and his dad are devastated and his dad is especially stressed about it. But they are now working to clean it up and drawing plans for a new shop. Hey at least it wasn't the house!
